THE 1950s:
THE RIGHT MOVES
1954: Our roots lie in a bakery in Rotterdam. Besides deep-freezing our own products, we start supplying ice cream, ice cream waffles and ice lollies. In no time Dedert has established itself as the number one ice cream supplier!
1959: The ice cream market shows strong growth and Dedert begins the first “mechanised” production of ice lollies. As a result the focus switches from baking to ice cream production.
THE 1960s:
CONQUERING THE EUROPEAN MARKET!
1961: Our ice lollies are produced faster than ever ... using our home-made ice machine! And the product range is expanded: with double ice lollies, tongue lickers and ice-cube sticks. We distribute by road. Throughout the Netherlands!
1968: To gain easier access to some 30,000,000 customers within a 150-kilometre radius in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands, we take one of the most important steps in our history, by relocating to Roermond, in the south of the Netherlands!
THE 1970s TILL NOW:
A NEW ERA
From 1975 onwards the business took off in a big way: after our participation at the Anuga tradeshow in Cologne the demand for ice in Germany soared and we were scarcely able to meet it! Around this time we also began exporting to France and Great Britain and a new purpose-built ice lolly machine went into operation.
Our “private label” production also went on stream – our first important steps in this direction were taken in England. In 1992 we saw the addition of a new production facility, which became operational in 1993. Since then production has increased fourfold, with additional lines for the production of twin lollies, ice pops and space runners.
Annual production now exceeds 150,000,000 units and our ice is sold in
12 different countries.
